2010 Legislative Agenda
AIA Pennsylvania's Government Affairs Committee has developed a list of legislative priorities for 2010. As the year progresses, the agenda will be revised as new legislation is introduced and we achieve our goals.
High Priority
Sustainable Communities
• Continue to advocate for high performance building standards for state-funded buildings
Professional Practice
• Support revisions to Architects Licensure Act that include Mandatory Continuing Education
• Oppose interior design practice act and title registration
Public Contracts
• Support renewal of the School Mandate Waiver Program
• Monitor and advocate for “pencil ready” stimulus projects
Medium Priority
Uniform Construction Code (UCC)
• Reevaluate the UCC Collaborative and its role to affect changes to administration of UCC
• Monitor and respond to proposed amendments/changes
Sustainable Communities
• Continue to advocate for Historic Preservation legislation that would provide incentives for residential and commercial historic rehabilitation.
Public Contracts
• Support modernization of the Separations Act
• Monitor and oppose state school clearinghouse mandate legislation
Low Priority
Professional Practice
• Monitor A/E Board Joint Committee activities
• Oppose sales tax legislation that includes a tax on professional services
Public Contracts
• Oppose new referenda
Legislation will be monitored particularly concerning:

• brain drain
• transportation
• open space
• zoning
• stormwater management and sustainability
