EPiC (Emerging Professionals Committee) Leadership Opportunities
State Associate Director (SAD)/EPiC Chair
Roles/Responsibilities:
• Responsible for organizing and planning bi-monthly conference calls
• Plan (1) EP meeting IRL per year (This could expand to include those outside the EP Committee)
• Provide leadership and direction for future programs and events
• Collect and discuss the key issues that face EP’s with the committee
• Maintain the AIA PA Paula Maynes ARE Grant Task Force
• Assist other EP leaders with mission and tasks
• Attend the following events: AIA Grassroots, AIA Conference on Architecture, AIA SpeakUp, AIA Large States Conference, AIA QUAD States Conference, AIA PA Strategic Council Meetings, AIA PA Architects Action Day
Term Commitment:
• 2 Year Position. Eligible for 2 consecutive terms.

• Must be an Associate AIA at time of application. Preferably already a member of the EP Committee. Voted on by the EP Committee & approved by the AIA PA Board of Directors. Regional Associate Director (RAD)
Description:
• The Regional Associate Director represents Pennsylvania on the National Associates Committee. The National Associates Committee advocates for Emerging Professionals within the Institute. They also coordinate and disseminate information, programs and opportunities pertinent to Emerging Professionals down to the regional level.
Roles/Responsibilities:
• (1) Joint Committee meeting with the Young Architects Forum, in-person, expenses paid
• Quarterly full-committee conference calls
• Monthly conference calls with work group
• Yearly deliverables vary with work group selection, generally consisting of research for and assembly of internal documents, public articles, position statements, etc.
Term Commitment:
• (2) years

Young Architect Regional Director (YARD)
Description:
• The Young Architect Regional Director represents Pennsylvania within the AIA’s Young Architect Forum. The YAF advocates for architects licensed less than ten (10) years and under forty (40) years old within the Institute. They also coordinate and disseminate information, programs and opportunities pertinent to young architects down to the regional and local component level.
Roles/Responsibilities:
• (1) Joint Committee meeting with the National Associates Committee, in-person, expenses paid

• Monthly conference calls with focus group
• Yearly deliverables vary with workgroup selection, generally consisting of research for and assembly of internal documents, public articles, position statements, etc.
Term Commitment:
• (2) years

Architect Licensing Advisor (ALA)
Description:
• Serve as an information resource on the required components of licensure (education, experience, & examination) for emerging professionals.
• Provide information necessary for the transition from internship to licensure within the context of state regulatory requirements, reciprocity, and NCARB certification.
• Advise and assist licensure candidates with the NCARB Record application process.

Roles/Responsibilities:
• Regularly attend and/or participate in Architect Licensing Advisors Community training and development programs outlined in section IV, Support and Resources.
• Communicate with NCARB to maintain a thorough understanding of the Architectural Experience Program™ (AXP™) requirements, objectives and resources.
• Communicate with NCARB to maintain a thorough understanding of the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) requirements, objectives and resources.
• Communicate with the state licensing board to maintain a thorough understanding of state registration requirements and procedures.
• Communicate with NCARB to maintain a thorough understanding of NCARB certification requirements, objectives, and resources.
• Communicate and collaborate with professional support networks (including NCARB, AIAS chapters, local and national AIA components, YAF and NAC groups, state registration boards, etc.) to strengthen awareness of the required components of licensure and its importance among emerging professionals.
Term Commitment:
• A three‐year term limit is recommended.

EPiC Advocacy Director
Roles/Responsibilities:
• Attend AIA SpeakUp
• Act as a liaison between Government Affairs Committee
• Stay up to date and provide insight into AIA PA Advocacy Issues
• Review other states advocacy and civic leadership programs
• Champion the AIA PA Political Action Committee
• Promote Architects Action Day. Assist with the development of EP focused skill building webinar
• Responsible for advocating for Architects in the Community & Emerging Professionals in the Workplace
• Lead discussions regarding “Firm Fostering EP Recognition” and advance endeavor

EPiC Education Director
Roles/Responsibilities:
• Organize NAAB School Visits
• Maintain school contacts, schedule date of visit & select best committee Members to attend
• Update presentation as required
• Act as a liaison between AIAS & Architecture Schools Committees

EPiC Mentorship Director
Roles/Responsibilities:
• Support local components with PALM development
• Update meeting topics as required

AIA PA EPiC is also looking for Chapter Representatives from AIA Northwestern PA and AIA Middle PA.
Roles/Responsibilities:
• Participate in committee conference calls and an in-person meeting, usually 1x a year.
• Act as a liaison to EPiC from your local chapter’s Emerging Professionals community.
• Communicate key information concerning Emerging Professionals from EPiC back to your respective local chapter.
• Bring issues to the committee that are relevant to Pennsylvania Emerging Professionals.
• Work with the committee chair to develop an Emerging Professionals program or session for AIA Pennsylvania’s Annual Conference and assist the chairman in securing a sponsor for that session.
• Direct inquiries from Emerging Professionals concerning the AXP and the ARE to AIA Pennsylvania’s Architect Licensing Advisor (ALA)
