For the past 20 years Architectural Record has honored 10 emerging practices advancing issues of form, construction, sustainability, and community engagement. Their annual selections represent the promise of the future generation of architects.
This year, AIA Pennsylvania member Bright Common was honored as a 2021 Design Vanguard from a pool of international applicants. In Record’s June issue, architectural journalist James S. Russel, FAIA showcased a selection of the firm’s high performing, energy efficient projects and their “architectural inventiveness … turned to low-carbon purposes”. He also noted the studio’s recent growth into larger commissions and their immersion into the affordable housing sector, presenting broader opportunity for social impact in Philadelphia.
