The Pennsylvania chapter of the American Institute of Architects, AIA Pennsylvania, is proud to announce its 2022 Board of Directors and governing Executive Committee members led by 2022 AIA Pennsylvania President, Adam J. Trott AIA, NCARB.
In his inaugural message to the membership, Mr. Trott conveys his commitment to empowering Pennsylvania’s architects to employ their problem-solving, planning, collaboration, and visualization skillsets to contribute to the health, safety, welfare, and vitality of their local communities and beyond through civic engagement.
“We will grow our voice upstream in the policy-making circles to inform decisions made ahead of the point where architects traditionally get involved and empower our members to engage the policy-making structures in their local communities….We must continue educating the public that we are the only professionals to holistically study and design communities and buildings that are healthy, sustainable, and climate change resilient.” With this declaration, Adam aims to build on outgoing President Jeffrey Pastva’s year of the citizen architect.
Mr. Trott is the sole-proprietor and owner of AJT Architect, a studio in Erie, PA. He is Past President of the local AIA Northwestern Pennsylvania chapter and has served on the AIA Pennsylvania board since 2011, including positions of Director, Treasurer and President-Elect. He is also the current co-chair of the Government Affairs Committee and the Practice Encroachment Task Force.
He integrates his architectural practice with a robust community advocacy agenda, including being President of Bike Erie, President of Connect Urban Erie, a member of Civitas-Erie, and serving on the steering committee of the ERIWE – Undesigning the Redline project.
Trott will virtually accept the customary gavel and presidential duties as transferred from outgoing 2021 President, Jeffrey Pastva, at the first AIA Pennsylvania board meeting of 2022.
