Pittsburgh-based, Rothschild Doyno Collaborative’s Ohringer Arts project in Braddock, PA is one of 14 exceptional residential designs honored with an American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2022 Housing Award. The project is one of only two projects recognized in the category of “Excellence in Affordable Housing” and was the recipient of the 2021 AIA Pittsburgh Social Equity in Design Award.
The AIA’s Housing Awards program, now in its 22nd year, was established to recognize the best in housing design for new construction, renovations and restorations. This year’s recipients were selected by a four-person jury that evaluated entries relative to the AIA Framework for Design Excellence, which represents the defining principles of excellent design in the 21st century. Specifically, the jury looked at whether designs are sustainable, affordable, durable, innovative, socially impactful, meeting client needs as well as addressing the natural and built contexts.
