Meet & Greet Your Elected Officials

District Days returns this summer! AIA Pennsylvania is looking for members’ availability to schedule meetings with legislators in local districts throughout August and September. The main objectives – get to know your legislators by sharing the impact and challenges of your profession and a few key issues that need your voice. Please register by filling out the form below.

Meet Here or There

Depending on your level of comfort and your elected officials’ comfort, meetings may be hosted virtually, in-person at your office for a “take-your-legislator” to work visit, or in your legislators’ district office. This is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with your legislators and introduce yourself and AIA Pennsylvania as a resource for industry issues in a more relaxed environment.

How to Prepare

We will be hosting a webinar on Friday, July 29 at 11 am to prep all participants for their meetings with a breakdown of a few priority issues. In the meantime, stream 2021’s webinar  to refresh yourself on some of the key issues. District Days give members the opportunity to share their professional “proof points” and project narratives with legislators to introduce them to the broad scope of the architects’ skillset and practice. The goal is to have elected officials walk away from these meetings with an understanding of the ways architects can act as a resource for them in all matters related to the built environment that touch the health, safety, and welfare of their constituents. With infrastructure being at the top of everyone’s mind, now is the best time to remind legislators and staffers that buildings are infrastructure and before they are built, they have to be designed.

  • Rebuild the PAC for the New Legislative Session

As part of your District Days participation, the Pennsylvania Architects Political Action Committee requests your support to rebuild the PAC for this legislative session. Your support of the PAC enables AIA Pennsylvania to speak with a unified voice to educate and impact the legislature on the issues important to the practice of architecture in Pennsylvania as well as the health, safety, and welfare of Pennsylvania communities as touched by the practice. Your contribution to the PAC will assure that we can have important conversations communicating our issues to advocate for PA architects' needs. As the adage goes, "If you're not at the table, you're on the menu." Let's ensure architects are at the table by reinforcing the crumbling PAC. All PAC donors will receive a PAC Pin, designed by 2019 AIA PA President, Chip Desmone, AIA. $20 is the suggested investment in your profession but any donation is key for rebuilding the PAC.

*Contributions to Pennsylvania Architects PAC are not tax deductible for federal income tax purposes. Contributions to the Pennsylvania Architects PAC are for political purposes. All contributions to the Pennsylvania Architects PAC are voluntary. You may refuse to contribute without reprisal. The proposed contribution amounts are suggestions; you may choose to contribute more or less, or not at all. AIA Pennsylvania will not favor or disadvantage anyone by reason of the amount of their contribution or their decision not to contribute. State law requires political committees to report the name, address, occupation and name of employer for each individual whose contributions aggregate in excess of $250 in a calendar year.
