Carbon Cleanse: Reducing carbon’s impact
February 19, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
$10 – $25
As we change the calendar to a new decade, it can seem that everywhere we look, we see reminders of the urgent need to act on climate change.
As design professionals, owners, builders, managers, and users, we know we can reduce the carbon impact of all aspects of our personal and professional lives – but how?
Carbon is a complicated topic, with drivers including buildings and infrastructure, transportation, and agriculture. To provide a wide view of the issues, professionals from a variety of practice types will educate us on carbon impacts in their fields with the goal of empowering participants with the knowledge to act. In addition to hearing from our speakers, participants will have the opportunity to participate in relevant small group toolbox sessions to further develop their own strategies and tools. We are very excited to be joined by the following presenters:
Kelly Roberts, PE – Walter P Moore
Chad Adams, AICP – Ground Plan Studio
Steve Hessler, CPHC, & Ilka Cassidy, CPHC – Holzraum System
David Smith – Burns Engineering
If you’re new to the carbon conversation, already work on carbon reductions, or want to brush up on your sustainability knowledge, this event is for you! Additionally, if you are looking for a opportunities to volunteer as a leader or participant with the Living Future Community of Green Building United, we’ll have information at this session for you!
Light fare and beverages will be provided. Event is worth 2 AIA LUs.
