Celebrating Aspiring Architects and Their Commitment to the Profession and Their Communities
The Emerging Professionals Committee (EPiC) of the AIA Pennsylvania proudly announces the recipients of the 2025 Paula Maynes ARE Grant, recognizing five emerging architects for their exceptional commitment to the profession and their meaningful contributions to their communities.
Established in 2015, the Paula Maynes ARE Grant honors outstanding architectural graduates as they pursue professional licensure. The program provides vital financial assistance to help offset the cost of the Architect Registration Examination (ARE) and celebrates the perseverance, leadership, and service that define the next generation of architects in Pennsylvania.
Honoring Paula Maynes, AIA
The grant commemorates the legacy of Paula Maynes, AIA, whose career embodied mentorship, integrity, and dedication to architectural excellence. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Architecture, Paula gained experience with several firms before founding Maynes Associates Architects. Her professional service extended well beyond her practice—she served on both the AIA Pittsburgh and AIA Pennsylvania Boards of Directors, including leadership roles as President of AIA Pittsburgh (2008), Secretary of the AIA Pennsylvania Board (2012), and Chair of the Government Affairs Committee (2010–2011).
In 2025, AIA Pennsylvania proudly marks the 10th anniversary of the grant. Ten years of empowering aspiring architects and honoring Paula’s lasting influence on the profession.
