We’re excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2026–2027 Next to Lead cohort!
Next to Lead is AIA’s leadership development program for racially and ethnically diverse women in architecture who aspire to become volunteer leaders within AIA. Through a ten-month experience that combines virtual learning, in-person workshops, mentorship, and networking, participants gain the skills, confidence, and connections to take the next step in their leadership journey.
We invite you to help us identify and encourage talented individuals in your network and chapter to apply. Your outreach can make a meaningful difference in ensuring this opportunity reaches women who are ready to grow as leaders and help shape the future of the profession and the association.
Eligible applicants must:
- Be a current AIA Architect or Associate AIA member in good standing.
- Identify as a woman in mind, body, spirit, and/or any form of human expression.
- Identify as racially or ethnically diverse.
Applications are open now and will be accepted through August 7, 2026. Up to 18 participants will be selected for the next cohort, which begins in September 2026. The program is offered at no cost to participants and includes complimentary registration for key AIA leadership events, along with travel support for select programs.
