The Carpenters’ Company of the City & County of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians invite you to join Carpenters’ Company historian Tom Stokes on an architectural tour of the historic Oley Valley.
The Oley Valley contains some of the most historic and well-preserved rural architecture of Southeastern Pennsylvania. It is still primarily an agricultural area just as it was in the 18th century and has a remarkable amount of houses, barns and other buildings dating from this time period. Oley township in its entirety was designated a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and local residents, preservationists and historians continue to preserve and promote Oley Valley’s unique historic landscape.
The tour will stop at:
- Lobachsville Mill
- The Johannes Yoder Farmstead
- The Kauffman Farm
- Exeter Quaker meetinghouse
The tour will meet at the Classic Automall, 6180 Morgantown Rd, Morgantown, PA 19543 at 9:45am, and continue via bus. The cost of the tour includes lunch and bus transportation to each of the above sites.
