As society changes, the built environment must adapt. Where in the past the primary safety consideration in a building was fire protection, now we need to consider the real possibility of an active shooter. In many ways the efforts of mitigating one threat go counter to mitigation of the other threat. This program will present some possible design solutions to minimize the active shooter threat while not compromising the fire safety of the building.
