CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS

Founded in 1724, the Carpenters’ Company of the City and County of Philadelphia is the oldest extant craft guild and professional association in the United States.

With membership consisting of approximately 200 prominent Philadelphia-area architects, structural engineers, and building contractors in support of the Company’s mission focusing on preserving Carpenters’ Hall, promoting professional standards in the building trades, and providing scholarships for students in architecture and engineering.

The Company is proud to partner on this year’s John Stewardson Memorial Fellowship in Architecture, and we are encouraging student and young-professional architects to register for the design competition. The theme for 2026 is inspired by America 250, and part of the design charette on March 7 will take place at Carpenters’ Hall.

Eligible participants must fit into one of these categories:

  • Individuals expecting to graduate in 2026 from one of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s  seven (7)  NAAB-accredited professional architecture degree programs (e.g., M.Arch or B.Arch); or
