This course will provide an overview of how to make site design decisions to preserve native vegetation. This course illustrates best landscape practices that allow plant growth and limit human contact with impacted soils on brownfield sites; increase stormwater infiltration to reduce impacts on combined sewer systems; reduce urban heat island effects by planting and use of low SRI paving materials; provide effective techniques for preserving valuable vegetation during building development; and provides guidelines for sustainable urban and rooftop plantings. This course is also worth one Green Building Certification Institute CMP credit
