Paula Maynes ARE Grant

The Paula Maynes ARE Grant recognizes architecture graduates pursuing licensure and their contributions to the profession and their greater communities by offsetting the costs of the Architect Registration Examination (ARE).

Established in 2015, the grant celebrates the late Paula Maynes, AIA, whose collaborative character and legacy of mentorship and service to the profession left an indelible impact on the architecture community.

AIA Pennsylvania is proud to fund registration and travel for the annual Women’s Leadership Summit (WLS). The event, founded by AIA, supports and empowers women in architecture, design, and the allied building industries.

Local AIA Chapter & Regional Scholarships

The Pittsburgh Architecture Foundation Leadership Institute
The purpose of the Leadership Institute is to explore and grow the potential, capacity, and skill set of attendees while making a positive change and impact on their firms and offices and at a community level. The program is open to AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) professionals working in the industry for 5-15 years or not registered for more than 10 years.

Minority Architects of Pittsburgh Scholarship (MAPS)
MAPS is open to minority high school students, college students, and professionals interested in pursuing architecture based in the Pittsburgh region. AIA Pennsylvania proudly supported the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 cycles of the MAPS scholarships.

Central Pennsylvania Architects Foundation Fund (CPAFF) Scholarship
The CPAFF Scholarship, established by AIA Central Pennsylvania and administered by the Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC), is open to college students in or from Central Pennsylvania pursuing an architecture degree.

AIA Eastern Pennsylvania Student Scholarship
The AIA Eastern Pennsylvania Student Scholarship is open to students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture who maintain legal residence in eastern Pennsylvania.

AIA NEPA Scholarship
AIA Northeastern Pennsylvania funds scholarships, administered by the Luzerne Foundation, to support college students in or from northeastern Pennsylvania pursuing the study of architecture.

National Scholarships

Architects Foundation Scholarships
Architecture scholarships and professional development grants open to high school and undergraduate students, Architect Registration Exam (ARE) candidates, and licensed architects pursuing enrichment opportunities.

AIAS Scholarships
The American Institute of Architects Students (AIAS) curates national, international, and regional scholarships as well as ARE scholarships, fellowships, and other opportunities.

Houzz Scholarships
Several scholarship programs open to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a career in architecture.

ACSA Scholarships
The Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) published a list of scholarships and career resources for underrepresented students in 2023.

Hip Hop Architecture Scholarship
Open to minority high school seniors accepted into a 4-year college or university to study architecture.

SmithGroup Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Scholarship Program
Open to students from historically underrepresented demographics pursuing architecture, interior design, planning, landscape architecture, and engineering.

CREW Network Foundation Scholarship
The CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Network offers scholarships to female undergraduate and graduate students pursuing careers in architecture.
