Anastasia Markiw is a Project Manager for DesignGroup in Pittsburgh. With a primary focus on healthcare architecture, Anastasia strives to design spaces that provide inspiration to work, live, learn, and heal.
Anastasia’s leadership journey began within the AIA after completing the AIA Pittsburgh’s Foundation of Architecture Leadership Institute for Emerging Professionals and joined as a member of AIA Pittsburgh Young Architect Forum and later served as the Chair in 2020. Anastasia was selected as the 2021-2022 AIA National Young Architect Representative for Pennsylvania and led several initiatives with AIA PA and EPiC. Most recently, Anastasia concluded a two-year term as the AIA National Young Architect Forum Advocacy Director leading a work group responsible for advocacy content and webinars and received the 2023 AIA PA Young Architect Award.
Committed to advocating for underrepresented voices in the profession, Anastasia is a member of the AIA PA EDI and Women in Architecture Committee. She also participated in a joint AIA/IDLCPA task force that helped secure mandatory continuing education (CEU) requirements for architects with the passage of SB 1319. Anastasia continues to promote the architecture profession through educating aspiring students and speaking at Young Women’s Recognition Night at schools in the community. In her spare time, Anastasia volunteers with local theatre groups assisting with lighting design and backstage.
