Carl J. Handman, AIA, attended The Architectural Association in London, England in 1972/73, as a year of Independent Study, graduating from Syracuse University in 1974. Establishing his practice in 1980, he joined the Eyerman office in 1990. His practice is committed to innovative design solutions which combine regional architectural traditions and materials with 21st Century technology.

He believes that each project should be analyzed within the unique set of circumstances that its site has to offer. These variables, when combined with the client’s program requirements, budget and energy considerations, produce a design that is responsive to the community and site on which it is located. An active member of AIA NEPA since the mid 1990’s, Carl was appointed to the first PA UCC RAC in 2009, serving until 2011. He was an Adjunct Instructor at Marywood University’s School of Architecture from 2011 until 2017.

Also active in his community, Carl has been Chair of the House & Property of Temple B’nai B’rith in Kingston, PA since 2001. He has also served on the Boards of B’nai B’rith Senior Apartments, and the Luzerne County Historical Society, both in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
