Christine Mondor

Christine is an eternal optimist regarding the power of design in shaping a resilient and equitable environment and believes that architects have a leading role. She has been active in shaping places, processes, and organizations nationally and internationally for over two decades and is excited to serve as PA’s Representative to the AIA College of Fellows.

As Strategic Principal of evolveEA, Christine brings integrative solutions to wicked problems such as affordable housing, infrastructure, and transportation systems. Her projects have taken her to diverse places around the country and her insights come from designing at all scales, from shaping the national EcoDistricts Protocol, to designing city-wide green infrastructure in Buffalo, to crafting the material details that bring the public realm to life. Her work has received national awards from the AIA, the American Planning Association, and the American Society of Landscape Architects and has been published nationally and internationally.

Christine’s commitment to the citizen architect model will help her build a broad and welcoming architectural community as Fellows Representative and AIA Pittsburgh Board Member. Christine will draw upon her experience teaching architecture and urban ecology at Carnegie Mellon University and her tenure in public service as Pittsburgh’s Planning Commission Chair and the Chair of Pittsburgh’s Comprehensive Plan Strategic Committee.

Christine has studied architecture, design, and sustainable design at Carnegie Mellon University, Denmark Institute of Study, and Harvard University. She was elevated to the College of Fellows in 2019, joined the AIA Pittsburgh board in 2022, and chaired the AIA PA Special Awards in 2022.
