Monica Blasko is a Project Architect at Desmone in Pittsburgh, PA where she is always up for a design challenge and collaborates on thoughtful design solutions for cultural, hospitality, workplace, and adaptive reuse projects. To her, building and maintaining relationships is key, and she focuses on balancing the varied priorities of stakeholders and clear communication to achieve successful project outcomes.
As the AIA National YAF Advocacy Director, Monica worked with her cohort of fellow young architects to strategically envision the future of our profession— building upon its strengths, while continually identifying and creatively attacking its shortcomings. Through her involvement with the AIA National Young Architects Forum, AIA Pennsylvania, AIA Pittsburgh, Women in Design Pittsburgh, and range of work experience, Monica has proven herself to be an adept designer, a collaborative leader, and an accomplished advocate.
In 2020, Monica was recognized for her efforts as recipient of the AIA Pennsylvania Emerging Professional Award. She strives to channel her experiences and to better understand the experiences of others, as she mentors aspiring architects and champions issues that affect the entire architectural community, but especially those historically disenfranchised.
