We’re excited to share NCARB’s FY25 Annual Report, detailing their efforts to support architectural licensure and the 55 U.S. licensing boards throughout the year. From building relationships with external partners to enhancing tools and resources for licensure candidates, this year’s report shares the priorities they made progress toward in each quarter.
Highlights From the Year
Throughout Fiscal Year 2025, they upheld their commitment to protecting the public’s health, safety, and welfare and pursued new opportunities to improve programs and services. Some key accomplishments from the year include:
- Released the Competency Standard for Architects, a framework that establishes competency-based qualification as the foundation of initial licensure and lays the groundwork for a flexible, accessible path to architectural licensure
- Expanded access to architectural practice through a refreshed Mutual Recognition Agreement with Australia and New Zealand
- Launched improvements to NCARB’s licensing requirements tool, which provides an overview of the requirements in each of NCARB’s 55 member jurisdictions related to architectural licensure and practice rules
- Released a statement establishing NCARB’s position on the use of AI in architectural practice and its impact on regulation
- Released a new limited-series podcast, Inside NCARB by the Numbers, exploring the people, programs, and policies that drive trends on the path to licensure
- Celebrated the final jurisdictional licensing boards retiring the rolling clock policy, two years after NCARB officially retired the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) policy in May 2023
