AIA’s latest update highlights advocacy wins and national visibility across several fronts. On federal procurement, a proposed FAR Part 15 rule would restrict the 6% A/E fee limitation to cost-plus-fixed-fee contracts, addressing a longstanding AIA concern, while AIA also opposed an SBA proposal to raise the architectural services size standard from $12.5 million to $135 million, warning it would squeeze out truly small firms. AIA leaders represented the profession at Climate Week NYC, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Leadership Conference, and the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference, speaking on resilience, workforce pathways, and housing policy. AIA also submitted formal comments after the surprise termination of Section 106 consultation on the proposed Triumphal Arch at Memorial Circle, hosted the U.S. AI & Energy Summit with the Department of Energy, backed the School Infrastructure Modernization Act, and launched the Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience Pledge. Additional highlights include Senator Lujan’s ArchiPAC-supported fundraiser with AIA New Mexico and an open job posting for Deputy Architect of the Capitol.
