The Pennsylvania state chapter of the American Institute of Architects, AIA Pennsylvania, welcomes the returning and incoming members of its 2023 Board of Directors led by incoming President Roger Williams, AIA.
In his inaugural message to the membership, Mr. Williams challenges his peers, nearly 3,000 architects and construction industry professionals across the state, to uphold and expand the legacy of those architects that have come before by mobilizing and mentoring the present and upcoming generations of the profession.
He urges Pennsylvania’s architects and allies to counter the forces that encourage the commoditization of architecture through awareness of how architects design for efficiency, safety, wellness, and longevity, generating value for their clients and society’s greater good. Williams emphasizes “architects alone possess the unique ability to meet the challenges of design and construction leadership required to provide quality buildings.”
Roger is the Technical Manager for the Industrial Studio within Larson Design Group, based in Williamsport. He has over 35 years of experience in the profession, having worked with firms in northcentral and northeast Pennsylvania, and has also practiced corporate healthcare architecture. Williams has been active in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) at the local and state level for over 15 years, serving as President of AIA Northeastern Pennsylvania and the chapter’s representative to AIA Pennsylvania for six years. He is also active in his local community. He has served on his local school board, the Bloomsburg Historic Architectural Review Board (HARB), with other local service organizations, and the AYSO.
Roger will virtually accept the traditional gavel and presidential duties as transferred from outgoing 2022 President Adam Trott at the first AIA Pennsylvania board meeting of 2023.
