This course discusses the impact of buildings on the natural environment through materials, manufacturing, and use. The discussion looks at solutions through specification and implementation of sun control technologies such as sunshade and daylighting canopy systems, as well as usage of materials that contain recycled content. Designing as part of a holistic building environment is critical to sustainable building projects, reduction of extraction of natural resources, and human health and well-being.
