Open to All Adjuncts, Full Time Professors and Administrators
As design educators, we set the tone in the studio. We have the opportunity to center student wellness while also continuing to achieve the high level of standards expected in design schools and in the profession. This 2-hour on-line workshop will include opportunities to interact with design educators from across the Commonwealth and includ the following learning objectives:
• Define the changing context for design education in the 2020’s and define the stress points that design students bring to the studio.
• Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the traditional Master/Apprentice relationship in the context of a changing world
• Examine core design studio pedagogies such as design juries, desk crits, grading practices, how bias effects methods of interaction, and how conflict is managed.
• Discover new ways to achieve high quality studio output while also centering student wellness
